Built as a Naval Ship engine building facility in the 1850’s, this project includes the renovation of three connected buildings that comprise approximately 300,000 square feet of space with interior ceiling heights of up to 75’. All renovations had to be approved by the Historical Commission.

BD Engineering provided design services for the renovation and upgrade of the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. The existing buildings were updated to meet current building codes and upgraded to provide shell spaces for future light industrial tenants. The improvements were designed to meet LEED Silver certification. The project was completed in 2015.

Our Mission

We understand that our clients have to live with and maintain the designs we provide, and that many clients ultimately have an end-user with specific needs that must be met. Balancing the needs of both the client and end-user is one of the most important factors in the overall success of a project.

– Brian Tannenhaus

We adhere to a simple “client first” philosophy where an extensive evaluation of both client and end-user needs are considered first and foremost in every project we undertake. This ensures each client will get the results they are looking for.
